Department of Samhita, Siddantha & Sanskrit (Basic principles of Ayurveda) :

Our branch is popularly known as Department of Basic principles. Ayurveda originated as part of Vedic sciences. All the original texts of ayurveda were written in Sanskrit. So, the knowledge of Sanskrit language is compulsory to learn ayurveda.

There are five basic elements of Panchamahabhutas viz., Earth, Water, Fire, Wind and Space. Every element in this universe is made up of these five elements. Similarly human body is also made up of panchabhutas. Three doshas are the physiological factors of the body. Such principles are related to the subject Padarth Vigyan popularly known as Metaphysics will be handled by our department.

Presently our department is engaged in under graduate level teaching. This is a compulsory subject for the first year students. The department teaches concepts, ethics and the subject forms the strong base of ayurved by giving philosophical understanding of ayurved. The history will clarify the birth, development and ups and downs of the ayurvedic science.
